Grove Park and Ravenwood Garden Club

Our Garden Club was started by Grove Park neighbors, Barry and Mary-Ellen Jones in the fall of 2006. The Garden Club is a combined neighborhoods organization of Grove Park and Ravenwood residents. It is a comfortable format for meeting new neighbors, visiting each other's gardens, addressing common problems (e.g., canker worms, weeds and invasive plants) and sharing gardening tips and ideas. In 2007 the Garden Club created (and continues to maintain) three colorful garden plots at the 'Triangle'; our first community project.

In April 2009 the Garden Club hosted its first annual Garden Tour. It has become one of the Eastside's premier Spring Events, drawing many non-residents to tour selected gardens in Grove Park and Ravenwood. The Garden Club also initiated a 'Keep it Clean' campaign, which the Grove Park Neighborhood Association has taken over, where area neighbors volunteer to pick-up trash from sections of Robinson Church Road and W.T Harris Blvd. that border our neighborhood.

In 2014 the Garden Club built and installed a Little Free Library at the Triangle. It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. Great for kids and adults!

The Garden Club meets on the third Saturday of the month, at 10:30 a.m. Various members share in hosting the members. Guests are always welcome. There are no membership dues. Instead the Garden Club holds an annual yard sale. Proceeds support feature neighborhood projects.

Ravenwood-Grove Park Social Committee

The Social Committee has 4 members each from the two communities. Among other things they organize the National Night Out event in August every year and the Winter Fest holiday party dinner in December. They develop the plans, organize the people, prepare the facilities, aquire the supplies and supervise the running of the events.

When it is time for a great gathering --- it is time for the Social Committee!

Do not miss their next BIG event...
